It’s not a secret that women love spas–and that they enjoy spending time with their girlfriends and favorite family members.  Combine those two truths and you have a winning marketing combo that is probably already on your menu. (Think girlfriend getaways, bridal parties, mom and me specials.)  Add spice to your offerings and offer new packages for their girl tribe.

Rethink Bridal & Bachelorette Parties

Today, spa bridal and bachelorette parties are as traditional as saying, “I do.” Shake things up to create new trends in these spa staples.

  • First, think about website branding and marketing. Rather than simply saying, “We have facilities for bridal parties,” come up with catchy titles–for example, Bachelorette Spa Bash or Wedding Belles.
  • Hold a spa party-planning event. Invite brides-to-be in your area to check out your spa and share tips on how to prepare for a special day for everyone in the bridal party. (A little champagne goes a long way!) During the event, remind them of the dos and don’ts of pre-wedding treatments.

From National Pizza Day to Sibling Day, the internet always has a reason to celebrate.  While they seem silly at first, #hashtag holidays may benefit your spa business!

The trick is to choose holidays that complement your business goals.

Step 1 would be to consider your menu and upcoming promotions. Other items to think about are spa location, time of year, and what your customers enjoy. For example, leverage National Hat Day and the hat hair that comes with it. This may or may not work for a salon. It all depends on what you want to say about your brand.

Also, remember that less is more: don’t celebrate every holiday, especially if it has nothing to do with your business. Otherwise, you may confuse your audience and lose social engagement.

April 16 – National Stress Awareness Day

#StressAwarenessDay reminds us to take a deep breath and chill. Americans are more stressed than ever, which affects the body from head to toe. Use this holiday to showcase calming menu items such as massages and acupuncture. To combat stress, consistency is key: promote your membership program today to convert first-timers into regulars.

 

June 8 – Global Wellness Day

#GlobalWellnessDay inspires us to stop, act, and lead a healthier life. We love this holiday because it is relevant for all of our partners! June 21 – National Selfie Day

#NationalSelfieDay celebrates our inner Beyoncé and promotes our best selves. While we believe the best selfie is a confident one, a little spa or salon intervention never hurt. Consider offering a special “selfie” package, or encourage your customers to share their post-salon selfie for an added boost.

 

July 7 – National Chocolate Day

#NationalChocolateDay is a fun holiday with sweet benefits. Food is popular on social media, so use this opportunity to promote a little cocoa-inspo! For spas, feature chocolate massages, body scrubs, and facials. For salons, play up chocolate and caramel-inspired hair color or chocolate manicures. Marrying food holidays with an inspired menu is a creative way to find new customers on social.

 

August 15 – National Relaxation Day

On #NationalRelaxationDay, summer is ending and many people dread returning to their regular routine. Use this day to promote relaxing treatments such as massages, body scrubs, or even restorative yoga. Ask your customers to share a photo relaxing at your spa (added bonus for a robe selfie!) for a chance to win a relaxing spa treatment, product, or other fun giveaway.

 

And finally, sending spa love to your staff on social is always a great idea! Not only will your team feel appreciated, but showcasing their skills (such as before and after photos) will impress and attract new customers. Spafinder’s take on the spa:  “For Miami’s Spa month, I decided to enjoy one of many massages offered within this tranquil oasis. Nestled just a few blocks away from the marina, this secluded gem is a reprieve for knotted backs and tense muscles. Traffic, slow drivers, you name it—the day of my massage Murphy’s Law seemed in full effect: Nevertheless, the staff kindly greeted me, assailed my concern for running late and then led me to the changing room. Once I’d managed to change into my newly acquired terry cloth robe and sip some cucumber lemon infused water in the relaxation room, my masseuse, Maria, swept me away to a dimly lit sanctuary. The sound of chimes served as background noise as she eased away the remnants of daily computer sessions, too much Miami driving, and less than perfect posture. Maria used hot stones to loosen my muscles further. After 50-minutes, I felt like hitting replay. I arrived in a flurry and left in a daze. As the name implies, it was a heavenly hour of kneading, exotic oils, and deep relaxation! Next time, I’ll bring some girlfriends to lounge by the pool and enjoy a full spa day.”
